In an effort to combat ticket scalpers for the final LCD Soundsystem show at Madison Square Garden, and to ensure that all fans get to see the farewell performance, James Murphy announced over the weekend that the band will perform four more shows leading up to the MSG performance.
”... We were more than taken aback and surprised about the speed of ticket sales for the April 2nd MSG gig, as well as the effectiveness of scalper pieces of fucking shit at getting their hands on said tickets before fans could,” Murphy said on the band’s webiste, “and it’s knocked us on our asses… We never dreamed some shitbags would try to get THOUSANDS for our show. It’s insane… ”
The new shows will be held at New York City’s Terminal 5 March 28-31, preceding the MSG final show on April 2. Murphy says the additional shows will feature most if not all of the songs to be played at the April 2 performance. The news was announced via a post by Murphy on the band’s website. The frontman had some less-than-kind words to share with the scalpers that necessitated the extra shows, but to the fans he said simply, “Thank you. You rule. Don’t let the shitbags win.” View Murphy’s full post at LCDSoundsytem.com, and don’t forget to watch the band perform tonight on The Colbert Report.
Tickets for LCD Soundsystem’s four Terminal 5 shows will be available Feb. 18 on Ticketmaster.com.
