Primus to Release First New Album in 12 Years

Earlier this week, Primus bassist Les Claypool announced that the group will be releasing their first record since 1999’s Antipop.

“For those of you that enjoyed the new song, ‘Last Salmon Man,’ that we played New Year’s, you’ll love the record because every song basically sounds exactly the same as that one,” Claypool wrote in an online statement. “In fact, we just kept recording the same song over and over and I would just change a few of the lyrics around.” The bassist further added that every song on the new album “is pretty much a variation of ‘Don’t Fear the Reaper’ by Blue Oyster Cult.”

In addition to the forthcoming record, Primus will soon embark on an Australian tour and are slotted to perform at Hangout Music Fest in late May. See their dates below.
