Queens of the Stone Age Operate On Fan's Appendix Backstage
You read that headline right. Queens of the Stone Age Troy Van Leeuwen claimed in a recent interview with Spinner that he performed emergency appendix surgery on a fan backstage at a show in Munich, Germany. Rather than defer to a practicing doctor, Van Leeuwen allegedly partook in the lost art of removing an appendix on the diehard fan while drunk and without anesthesia.
The Queens of the Stone Age member explained the scenario to Spinner thusly: “Do you wanna hear something fucked up? Of course you do. There was one time when we performed an appendectomy, backstage in Munich. We forgot the anesthesia. I do know how to perform these operations, but I’d had too much to drink that day. But she’s okay.” When pressed to elaborate, Van Leeuwen backpedaled a bit, saying, “It’s actually a legal matter … It’s a medical slash legal matter and I can’t say much more than that.”
In case you’re still holding out for your very own QOTSA-surgery, the band will be playing plenty of shows throughout the spring. But be sure to bring your own anesthesia, though. Check out their tour dates here.
