Ryan Gosling to Star in Logan's Run Remake
Ryan Gosling has been confirmed last week to star in a remake of Logan’s Run. The 1976 sci-fi/drama focuses on a society that requires death from all those over the age of 30 and one man’s struggle to resist.
Gosling will portray the title role of Logan 5, a “Sandman” whose job it is to hunt down renegade 30-year-olds—that is, until he crosses the age-of-no-return as well. The remake of Logan’s Run will once again see Gosling reunited with director Nicolas Winding Refn. The two recently worked together on Drive, which will be released later this year.
Gosling’s deal with Warner Brothers was reported to be in the final stages late last week. With this role, Gosling could be on a path to move from a career built mostly in the indie-film industry, with the exception of The Notebook, to larger studio productions. He will be starring alongside Steve Carell in the forthcoming Warner Bros comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love, and has been previously sought after by Paramount studios for a reboot of the Jack Ryan franchise. Whether or not he will continue down this path to a studio career is yet to be seen.
Production for Logan’s Run starts this fall.
