The Blind Boys of Alabama have announced they will release a traditional country-gospel album for the first time in their 70-year career.
The currently-untitled album features collaborations with Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., Vince Gill and Jamey Johnson, who also co-produced the record. “This album beautifully combines two of the seminal roots of the American music tree, gospel and country music. The Blind Boys, Jamey and their hand-picked guests deliver this music in a searingly authentic way,” said Mike Jason Senior Vice President, Retail for Saguaro Road Records, in a statement.
The five-time Grammy Award and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winners plan to release the album on May 3 via Saguaro Road Records.
