The Grammys provided plenty of surprises last night, one of which being Esperanza Spalding taking home the award for Best New Artist. The contemporary jazz singer is relatively unknown when compared to the other artists nominated for the category, namely Justin Bieber, and many jilted fans wanted to let Spalding know how they felt.
After Spalding was named as Best New Artist, really mature people took the internet and graffitied Spalding’s Wikipedia page. The page was quickly restored, but Gawker caught a few of the alterations that were made to the page:
- Her middle name was changed to “Justin,” then to “Quesadilla.”
- “JUSTIN BIEBER DESERVED IT GO DIE IN A HOLE. WHO THE HECK ARE YOU ANYWAY?”
Bieber’s fans are known for being overly protective of their star, but this takes Bieber Fever to a new level. For a list of Grammy award winners, visit our recap of the red-carpet event.

Glad 'talent' won. Restores my faith in the Grammy's NOT being a popularity contest.
As for the 'Esperanza isn't "NEW"' people, in case you forgot, Bieber has been around for more than 2010 as well, so if that's you're argument, then he shouldn't have been nominated either.
