Oscar nominated Toy Story 3 screenwriter Michael Arndt has been hired by Disney to write the upcoming reboot of the 1936 classic Snow White. Natalie Portman is reported to have been offered the lead role.
The reboot, Snow and the Seven, is very much a reimagining of the classic tale, much like last year’s Tangled (of The Brothers Grimm’s Rapunzel). The story will follow the tale of an Englishwoman who, after travelling to Hong Kong for her father’s funeral, discovers her stepmother is plotting her demise. The woman escapes to mainland china where she receives aid from seven warriors.
However, Portman’s recent pregnancy may see her passing on the role, which reportedly will include training in several fighting styles. I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence is set to direct.
