Warner Bros. to Launch Expediated Video-On-Demand Service
Warner Bros. will be cutting down the time it takes for new on-deman movies to be released. This process usually has taken 90 days to complete, but Warner and other studios have recently been experimenting with a 60-minute model. For Warner Bros., new movies will be released through their newly announced premium video-on-demand (VOD) service before moving to physical release.
While no additional details have been disclosed, this news probably will impact the 28-day release window Warner gives to Netflix and Redbox—with each potentially facing fee increases.
