American Idol to Sell Weekly Compilation Albums on iTunes

American Idol has made many changes this season, the latest being offering downloads of the weekly performances as a compilation album through iTunes.

So far this year has seen new judges and a new set, and now for the first time, Idol fans can download the album of songs performed by finalists each week.

Studio versions of the songs recorded by the Idols under the guidance of Jimmy Iovine’s team will be available through iTunes after the show’s broadcast on television. The songs will also be available for individual purchase. The compilation album and 13 individual tracks are the first to be released on the 19 Recordings/Interscope label, with the album available for $7.99.

American Idol finalists already have sales of millions of songs on iTunes.
