Cee-Lo Green Named Coach of NBC's The Voice

NBC will be hosting a new musical competition series this spring, and Cee-Lo Green will be joining said competition as a coach.

The Voice will be hosted by Carson Daly and will follow the journey of aspiring singers as they are selected by one of four coaches—Maroon 5’s Adam Levine will join Green, as well as two other apparently less-well-known-and-thus-unnamed coaches—and divided into teams. The coaches will bring in their friends, producers and songwriters to help develop their teams of singers, and then America will vote for which singer will win a recording contract and $100,000.

“Cee-Lo Green and Adam Levine represent the essence of The Voice,” Paul Telegdy, executive vice president of alternative programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios, told Billboard. “These amazing artists are the perfect inspiration for our contestants to look up to as they begin their journeys from ‘voices’ to true artists—and any hopeful singer would be incredibly lucky to have either one as their coach.”
