Radiohead Reveals King of Limbs Physical Release, Shout-Out to Drew Barrymore

Radiohead Reveals King of Limbs Physical Release, Shout-Out to Drew Barrymore

Radiohead’s newest LP The King of Limbs was released digitally last month, and the physical release is set for March 28. However, Radiohead fan site AtEaseWeb.com has recently published photos of the artwork for both the CD and vinyl editions, as well as details about the release.

The biggest revelation from the AtEaseWeb post is that the physical release does not include any more tracks than what have already been released digitally, as many fans expected (or perhaps hoped for) more from the band. Although fans didn’t get the new material they were looking for, there is a rather interesting tidbit in the album credits — a shout out to Drew Barrymore. “A big thank you very much indeed to Drew Barrymore,” the credit reads. Many fans speculate that Radiohead recorded the new album at her house.

Another interesting aspect of the credits is the attribution that “the imagery was summoned up by Zachariah Wildwood and Donald Twain.” AtEaseWeb asserts that these are pseudonyms for Stanley Donwood, who has collaborated on artwork with Radiohead for most of the band’s career, and Thom Yorke. This is probably correct, considering that Yorke has used an alias before on illustration credits, often appearing as “Dr. Tchock.”

While the physical releases don’t look like they will be holding any big surprises, the mysterious “Newspaper Album” is set for initial release on May 9. With Radiohead, one must expect the unexpected, which is to say, expect nothing and everything.
