Johnny Marr Announces Two Solo Albums in Next 18 Months

It’s been seven years since Johnny Marr released his last solo album, but the former Smiths guitarist plans to make up for it by releasing a couple of them over the course of the next 18 months. That isn’t to say that Mr. Marr has been sitting on his hands the past few years. In 2007, he collaborated with Modest Mouse on We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank and, more recently, he joined The Cribs and worked alongside Hans Zimmer on the Inception score.

“With the Cribs not working I’ve been writing a lot on my own,” Marr recently told Billboard at a pre-Oscar party. There was no mention of further collaboration with The Cribs, but he assured that more work with Zimmer would occur.

No other details have been released about the upcoming records.
