L.A. Noire Honored as Official Selection at 2011 Tribeca Film Festival

L.A. Noire Honored as Official Selection at 2011 Tribeca Film Festival

Upcoming detective thriller L.A. Noire has been selected to be a part of this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, marking the first time a videogame has been granted this honor.

Developed by Team Bondi and published by Rockstar Games, L.A. Noire is set in 1947 Los Angeles and follows detective Cole Phelps (played by Mad Men‘s Aaron Staton) as he works to solve a number of cases surrounding the Black Dahlia murder. The game features a unique new technology known as MotionScan to capture actors’ faces, creating the most realistic facial expressions seen in a videogame to date.

“We’re thrilled that L.A. Noire is being recognized by the Tribeca Film Festival in this way,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “It’s a real honor, and another step forward for interactive entertainment.”

A part of the Tribeca Talks series, the game will be shown off at the festival as an interactive presentation, featuring a live playthrough of one of the game’s cases and a Q&A exploring the crossover between filmmaking and interactive entertainment. The event will take place April 25.
