via MusicRow: Earlier this week the Obama Administration recommended legislation that would grant artists pay when their recordings are played over the radio.
The suggestion was part of 20-page memo sent to Congress by White House U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Victoria Espinel.
Radio stations and their trade group, the National Association of Broadcasters, have been arguing against the royalty in recent years, with artists and record labels contend that it should be put into place.
The memo also proposed making illegal streaming a felony offense.
