Peter Jackson's The Hobbit Finally Begins Shooting
Variety reports that Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit has finally begun shooting. This comes after a number of delays have held back the picture, including financial problems at MGM and director Guillermo Del Toro’s departure from the film.
With Del Toro’s departure, Peter Jackson stepped from producer to director of the two-part Lord of the Rings prequel. This ultimately resulted in another delay as Jackson was later hospitalized for a stomach ulcer.
Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen and Cate Blanchett will reprise their roles from the critically acclaimed trilogy, with British actor Martin Freeman set to play the titular character of Bilbo Baggins.
