Grammy, Emmy and Oscar-winning music vet Randy Newman has announced the release of The Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 2. The Songbook series features newly recorded, stripped-down versions of songs from throughout Newman’s vast career as a singer/songwriter. The first volume in the series was released in 2003.
In support of the new record, Newman embarked on a North American tour in mid-February that will continue through mid-April.
The Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 2 will be available from Nonesuch Records on May 10.

I'll be glad to see him again.
That "Songbook Vol 1" was an unexpected joy. He's much more comfortable than the original recordings and it's great to hear them redone without extraneous arrangements. It's so intimate, you can hear the sound of him releasing the sustain pedal.
I was just thinking last week that he needs to do another volume. Great news.
