Sundance London Coming in 2012

Indiewire reports Robert Redford, the Sundance Institute and AEG Europe will host Sundance London.

The arts festival will feature film screenings, live music performances, discussions, panels, as well as other programming. It’s scheduled to be held April 26-29, 2012 at The O2 Arena in London.

Redford, Sundance Institute and AEG Europe will join to showcase films from American filmmakers and contemporary American music during the four-day event. AEG Europe, the owner of The O2, will use the venue and its marketing teams to promote the events; the Sundance Institute will act as curator of the film component.

“The O2 is famous for its exciting and diverse events schedule, but we’re particularly proud to be hosting Sundance London next year,” Alex Hill, Senior Executive Director at AEG Europe added. “Mr. Redford’s passion for the arts, the depth of his many businesses and the curatorial reputation of Sundance Institute are world renowned and we see this as a natural extension of the music and sporting events presented at The O2 since we opened in 2007. We look forward to extending a warm welcome to the best of the film industry in 2012.

Redford and Sundance Institute released statements as well, both saying they were looking forward to bringing American independent cinema to the U.K..
