Ted Leo and A.C. Newman Perform for WMFU Fundraiser

WFMU will be holding its annual pledge drive this month, including two crucial fundraising events hosted by The Best Show tonight (March 1) and next week (March 9) from 9 p.m. to midnight ET. The show which is hosted by Tom Scharpling (and frequently featuring Jon Wurster), will feature Ted Leo and A.C. Newman performances in hopes of raising some much needed funds for the freeform radio station.

Those who pledge to donate $75 or more during either of these fundraising events will receive Rated GG, a vinyl single with cult-punk-rocker GG Allin covers featuring Ben Gibbard, The Mountain Goats, Ty Segall, Fucked Up and Ted Leo. This single will only be available through pledging and will not be sold in stores.

In case you aren’t familiar with the show’s personalities, they’re a couple guys who have worked on a whole bunch of interesting endeavors. Scharpling is a writer, producer and director—working recently on videos for New Pornographers’ “Moves,” Ted Leo’s “Bottled in Cork” video and Titus Andronicus’s “No Future Part Three: Escape From No Future.” Wurster has worked as a writer/humorist and plays drums for the likes of Superchunk, The Mountain Goats, Bob Mould and Newman.

Call 201-200-9368 tonight or next week to pledge some money to WFMU.
