Watch a New Gameplay Trailer for Batman: Arkham City

The follow up to 2009’s critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City is due out October 18. Today we get our first look at in-game footage thanks to a new trailer.

The trailer is composed entirely of in-game footage, and features familiar Batman faces such as Two-Face, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and of course the Caped Crusader himself. Additionally, several gameplay elements are exhibited, including Batman’s x-ray like detective vision, combat, and the new gliding mechanic, players’ primary means of transportation around the game’s expanded cityscape. The gliding is not quite flight, per se, as Batman never possessed that power. Rather, he gains speed through a combination of controlled dives and grappling hook maneuvers, both of which give lift to his winged batcape.
