Coming off the premiere of his recent big-budget, over-the-top effects-laden movie Sucker Punch, director Zack Snyder recently spoke out about his upcoming reboot of the Superman movie franchise, tentatively titled Superman: Man of Steel.
“The awesome thing about Superman is that Superman lives in the real world,” Snyder said to The Hollywood Reporter. “And it probably will be the most ‘real’ movie I’ve made. It will more real than even Dawn of the Dead.”
This is a stark contrast to the hyper-fantastic setting of Sucker Punch, which features a team of girls fighting their way out of a mental institution by shifting into the worlds of their minds, battling dragons, nazis, and more. Where Sucker Punch has been likened to a videogame, said Snyder in comparison, “Superman will be a documentary.”
The movie will star Henry Cavill in the titular role, with Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Superman’s adoptive parents Jonathan and Martha Kent.
