The Queen of Soul has announced her return to the stage after canceling a string of tour dates last year. Aretha Franklin took a hiatus from touring following doctor’s orders in preparation for a December surgery.
Franklin, who just celebrated her 69th birthday, hits the road on May 19 for a performance in Chicago, followed by a show in Niagra Falls, N.Y. on May 28. The only other date announced so far is a free concert at the TD Toronto Jazz Festival on June 24. The singer will perform on the Toronto Star Stage at Metro Square on the opening day of the festival, with the Toronto Jazz Festival Orchestra, directed by Guido Basso, backing her up.
