Ben Affleck Won't Be in The Great Gatsby After All

Earlier this month, Ben Affleck was in talks to join the cast of The Great Gatsby. However, the actor had to decline the role due to his commitment to direct Argo, a film about the 1979 Iran hostage crisis in the Middle East. Affleck was being courted by director Baz Luhrmann for the role of Tom Buchanan.

So far, Luhrmann has secured Leonardo DiCaprio to play Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan to play Daisy Buchanan and Tobey Maguire to play Nick Carraway. Actress Isla Fisher is reportedly in talks to portray Myrtle Wilson, Tom Buchanan’s mistress.
