Coldplay — along with Muse and Damon Albarn — may pen the official anthem to the London 2012 Olympics.
The Daily Mirror said Coldplay has been invited to open the ceremony, and officials would like them to perform a specially-written anthem.
A source told the paper: “Chris is at the top of the list to front the official record. We’re pulling out all the stops to get Chris, ideally with the rest of Coldplay involved too.”
Joss Stone is another act that reportedly has been asked to participate.
The opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympic games is being put together by Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle.
