Universal has offered Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Town) the lead role in The Bourne Legacy.
In the next installment of the Bourne film franchise, Renner won’t play Jason Bourne, but rather a completely new character.
Renner is also involved in the upcoming The Avengers superhero blockbuster, so Universal wants to start shooting soon. That leads to speculation that scheduling conflicts might disrupt the deal for The Bourne Legacy.
The film’s writer/director Tony Gilroy also looked at Garret Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch, Luke Evans, Shia LaBeouf and James McAvoy, according to SlashFilm.
