Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard Officially Join The Dark Knight Rises
Inception veterans Joseph Gorden-Levitt and Marion Cotillard have been in talks to join Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises for months now, but now they have officially been cast in the movie, according to Deadline. However, contrary to casting rumors, the pair will not be appearing as Alberto Falcone and Talia Al Ghul, respectively.
Instead, JGL will be portraying John Blake, “a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon,” while Cotillard will take on the role of Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises executive with a special interest in the grieving Bruce Wayne.
While this seems to put the Dark Knight Rises rumors to bed, The AV Club points out that Nolan has a history of casting characters under alternate names, and that Tate could simply be an alias for Talia Al Ghul, much in the same way Liam Neeson’s Ra’s Al Ghul was originally cast as Henri Ducard in Batman Begins.
