Despite announcing his retirement from acting last April, Leonard Nimoy has been confirmed to provide his voice for the upcoming Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. Nimoy will be making his return to movies in the role of Sentinel Prime, the predecessor to Optimus Prime whose wrecked body is seen in the film’s teaser trailer. Sentinel Prime seems to be a key figure in the film and is reported to play an important role in the climactic final battle scene.
Nimoy established himself in the realm of sci-fi with his iconic portrayal of Mr. Spock in Star Trek: The Original Series, but this isn’t the actor’s first rodeo with the Transformers franchise either. In 1986, he voiced Galvatron in the animated Transformers film, and on a strange personal note, he is also married to Transformers director Michael Bay’s cousin, Susan.
While all of this is certainly exciting news for fanboys everywhere, the issue of Mr. Spock’s dishonesty about the state of his acting career is, in a word, unnerving. So, please Leonard, no more lies. How can we be expected to live long and prosper when you toy with our heartstrings like this? It just isn’t logical.
