Nintendo Officially Announces Wii Successor Coming in 2012
According to a note published this morning on the company’s Japanese investor relations page, Nintendo has officially announced the successor to the Wii console, to be launched in 2012.
“We would like to propose a new approach to home video game consoles,” Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said in a news conference. The system has rumored to be in production under the code name “project cafe,” and has been under speculation for the past week. This announcement officially confirms the system, but details still remain unknown, as Iwata stated that the company is waiting until E3 to reveal more information.
However, a collection of potential specifications for the system has been circulating, sparking extensive rumors, hinting at the possibility of new motion control, a handheld touch screen, and next generation graphics.
