Rufus Wainwright to Perform His Opera in June

Rufus Wainwright will perform a selection from his original opera at a free show this June.

The singer will perform an excerpt from his own opera, Prima Donna, as well as a few arias as part of the River to River Festival at New York’s World Financial Center Winter Garden Theater on June 28 at 7 p.m. Wainwright will take the stage with the New York City Opera and pianist Kevin Murphy.

Prima Donna, which world premiered a couple of years ago at the Manchester International Festival, will be performed in its entirety at the New York City Opera in spring 2012.
