Sufjan Stevens Lends Music to <em>MAKE</em> Documentary

Sufjan Stevens has contributed music to the documentary that inspired his 2010 release, The Age of Adz.

MAKE, a documentary from Scott Ogden and Malcolm Hearn, features Prophet Royal Robertson and three other self-taught artists.

One of Robertson’s works served as the cover of The Age of Adz, and Stevens’ album was partially influenced by the artist’s life story.

MAKE, which also follows artists Judith Scott, Ike Morgan and Hawkins Bolden, is set for DVD release on June 21 through Stevens’ label Asthmatic Kitty.

In a press release, Stevens calls the film “a beautiful and insightful look at the sublime task of making art when nothing else will do.” Check out the film’s trailer is below:
