The Wachowskis to Adapt Cloud Atlas with Tom Hanks
The Matrix-creators Andy and Lana Wachowski have recently signed on to write and direct an adaption of David Mitchell’s novel, Cloud Atlas. The duo will share writing and directing duties with Run Lola Run-helmer Tom Tykwer. Tom Hanks has also signed on to star.
Shooting for the film is set to begin in September, but it is still unknown what role Hanks will play.The project has been circulating the rumor mill for a while now with stars such as Halle Berry, Natalie Portman, James McAvoy and Hugo Weaving supposedly involved, though none have been confirmed.
The story of Mitchell’s novel focuses on the interconnected lives of six characters throughout time, from a 19th-century clerk sailing the Pacific Ocean to a primitive tribesman living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
