Watch Mortal Kombat: Legacy Episode 1

It’s finally here. The web series built from the incredible live action Mortal Kombat trailer that surfaced last summer has premiered on Machinima. With a star-studded cast and top-notch directing and effects, Mortal Kombat: Legacy is proof that, when done properly, videogames can be adapted to the screen.

Starring Michael Jai White, Jeri Ryan, Darren Shahlavi, and Tahmoh Penikett as Mortal Kombat regulars Jax, Sonya Blade, Kano and Lt. Stryker respectively, the Kevin Tancharoen-directed series takes the Mortal Kombat universe away from the traditional martial arts tournament in favor of a grittier, police/special forces focus. The tournament may appear later though, as the original live-action trailer made reference to the tournament eventually happening.
