Johnny Depp and Steven Tyler Collaborate in Songwriting Sessions
Johnny Depp recently revealed that he has been collaborating on some music with Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and, more recently, American Idol. “We’ve been hanging out here and there,” Depp told Extra. “He’s someone I’ve admired greatly for such a long time. The idea of writing songs with him is a dream come true.”
Depp has dabbled in music throughout his career as an actor. In the early ‘90s, he formed the band P with the Butthole Surfers’ Gibby Haynes, and he also contributed slide guitar to Oasis tracks “Fade In-Out” from Be Here Now and “Fade Away (Warchild Version).”
It is currently unknown whether any of the material from the writing sessions will be featured on Tyler’s forthcoming solo album. The singer’s first solo single, “(It) Feels So Good,” was released yesterday, May 10.
Aside from collaborating with the singer, Depp has also expressed interest in portraying Tyler onscreen if an Aerosmith biopic were to ever be developed. “I would give it a shot,” he told The Boston Herald. “Why not?”
