New James Bond Novel to Hit Shelves

On Wednesday, London’s St. Pancras train station was flanked by a red Bentley, rappelling Royal Marines, and a model on a motorbike. If you think this sounds like a scene straight out of a 007 film, you’re pretty darn close.

Yesterday’s UK release of the new James Bond novel Carte Blanche was the cause of the stunt, part of the launch party as the British troops delivered the book to author Jeffery Deaver as he stepped out of the Bentley.

After being approached by Ian Fleming Publications a year and a half ago, the American thriller writer has penned a story which updates the secret agent to present day and takes him to exotic locations such as Dubai and Serbia. Carte Blanche, the 37th Bond novel, is the first since 2002’s The Man with the Red Tattoo to have a contemporary setting.

Carte Blanche will be released in the US on June 14 by Simon & Schuster.
