Now that Pink Floyd has resolved its dispute with EMI and re-signed with the label, the band is preparing to launch a mammoth reissue campaign.
Starting in September, Pink Floyd and EMI will begin re-releasing selections from the band’s back-catalog under the banner “Why Pink Floyd…?”
All 14 of the band’s studio albums will be remastered and repackaged for release on Sept. 26, both individually and in a box set. On the same day, a two-disc ‘Experience’-edition and a six-disc ‘Immersion’-edition of Dark Side of the Moon will also be released. Dark Side will likewise be released in both vinyl and digital formats.
Two other classic Floyd albums will receive the ‘Experience’ and ‘Immersion’ treatment as well. On Nov. 7, Wish You Were Here will be released, while The Wall gets released on Feb. 27, 2012. A greatest hits album, A Foot In The Door – The Best Of Pink Floyd, will also be released on Nov. 7.
Phew! “Why Pink Floyd…?” Because they can turn 14 albums into 40 discs.
