Ubisoft Launches Studio to Adapt Games to TV, Film

Ubisoft has launched a studio in Paris with the aim of adapting its videogame franchises into television and movie series.

Named Ubisoft Motion Pictures, the studio is set to be headed by former EuropaCorp CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet. Ubisoft is the studio behind popular game franchises Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell, and Prince of Persia, which was adapted into 2010’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Ubisoft’s last move into the film industry came in 2007 with the creation of computer animation studio Ubisoft Digital Arts and the later acquisition of visual-effects studio Hybride technologies, the studio behind the effects in 300 and Sin City.
