Brian Epstein Biopic Receives Funding

It looks like at least one of the biopics competing for the opportunity to chronicle the life of the man who managed The Beatles has been granted the funds and licensing required to move forward with production, as well as feature Beatles songs in the film.

Brian Epstein’s devotion to the Fab Four, as well as his aggressive pursuit of their eventual success, is considered to be instrumental in the band’s status as one of the world’s most successful and treasured musical acts. Epstein died of an accidental overdose in 1967.

After various reports surfaced in 2009 pointing to a project tentatively titled A Life in the Day, fans of Epstein, who tirelessly shopped the band’s record to multiple A&R representatives in the UK and eventually secured the band’s signing to Parlophone Records, were left on edge as to whether or not a final project would actually be delivered. But now, according to its official website, another film, producer/screenwriter Vivek J. Tiwary’s The Fifth Beatle, has received nearly $25 million in financing for the film as well as rights to ten songs, including "All You Need Is Love,” “A Day In The Life” and “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away.”

Details on the film’s cast and release date have yet to be released.
