Though getting Wonder Woman to the big screen has been an ongoing process, prospective director Nicolas Refn has said he wants Mad Men star Christina Hendricks as the superhero.
At the Los Angeles Film Festival premiere of the director’s new project Drive, starring Hendricks and Ryan Gosling, Refn told New York Magazine that he would cast the actress as Wonder Woman.
Last year, Refn told the BBC that he was “born to make” a Wonder Woman film. “It’s probably something that, to me, would be not just a satisfaction, but almost a catharsis,” he said.
The Mad Men actress herself said last year on Rachael Ray’s talk show that she would be interested in playing the superhero. “I’ve been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life,” she said. “I had Wonder Woman Underoos.”
Wonder Woman is currently in development at Warner Bros.
