Bear Grylls is no stranger to having celebrities appear on his hit Discovery Channel show Man vs. Wild. Two years ago, the “born survivor” was accompanied by Will Ferrell as they trekked through Northern Sweden. But to kick off a run of all-new episodes, Bear has enlisted the help of Jake Gyllenhaal.
The duo will travel to Iceland, facing its treacherous landscape that includes mountains, huge glaciers and active volcanoes. For two days, Grylls and Gylles will have to survive unpredictable Mother Nature using whatever means necessary.
“For me, it’s all about discovery,” said Gyllenhaal.
Grylls commended the actor’s ability to survive in the wilderness.
“The wild is always very revealing — not only physically but mentally,” said the survivalist. “You’ve got to smile when it’s driving horizontal hail and be able to face your fears and just get on and do it — and on both of those accounts, Jake came up strong.”
New episodes of Man vs. Wild will begin airing Monday, July 11 at 9 p.m. EST on Discovery Channel.
