James Spader in Talks to Join Cast of The Office?

Several sources are pointing to James Spader as an addition to the cast of NBC ‘s The Office for the comedy’s upcoming eighth season.

A three-time Emmy winner for his role as Alan Shore on ABC ‘s Boston Legal, Spader was grilled by an inter-office panel as a potential replacement for Michael Scott’s (Steve Carell) position as office manager during the show’s seventh season finale.

According to Entertainment Weekly, producers are in talks with Spader who will initially serve as office manager, but climb to fill the position of Dunder Mifflin’s CEO, replacing Kathy Bates. However, as opposed to Bates’ guest appearances, the Emmy winner’s character will be a much more stable presence in Scranton.
