Patti Smith has already proven her talents at music and writing. Last night, however, the Godmother of Punk demonstrated her acting skills on Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
The episode, “Icarus,” had Smith playing Columbia University mythology professor Cleo Alexander helping Detectives Goren and Eames investigate a Broadway musical after an actor dies performing a stunt (can you say Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark?).
In an interview with The New York Times, Smith said, “Acting is not an easy task, and it requires a subtlety that I did not bring to the set. Vincent D’Onofrio instructed me by example and by sharing the lessons he received from Stanley Kubrick. If I ever attempt it again, I know I will profit from the experience.”
