Peter Hook Announces North American Tour

Joy Division’s bassist Peter Hook is taking the legendary post-punk band’s 1980 hit record Closer on tour.

Peter Hook and his current band, The Light, just announced a short North American tour that will feature performances of Joy Division’s final album.

This idea is an extension of Hook’s 2010 tour, where he featured the band’s sophomore record Unknown Pleasures in its entirety. He will also take Unknown Pleasures to a few cities he skipped on his last visit.

After the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis, Hook stayed on as bassist for follow-up band New Order. And this month he released Total, a New Order/Joy Division hits and rarities compilation.

Some fans have questioned Hook’s motivations, since the English bassist controversially decided to kick off last year’s tour on the anniversary of Curtis’ suicide.
