Song-A-Day Guy Unveils Song-A-Day Album

Song-a-day extraordinaire Jonathan Mann has been hard at work, writing one tune a day for nearly 1000 days. He’s been posting the songs and the accompanying completely absurd music videos on his YouTube channel every day since Jan. 1, 2009. The subject matter for his tracks includes things like food poisoning, the TSA, spicy food, red pandas hopping and the like. He was even commissioned to write a birthday song for Steve Wozniak, cofounder of Apple, called “That’s Just the Woz.”

In celebration of his musical tenacity, Mann is now working with other musicians to put together a song-a-day album. According to a press release, Mann will be joined by The Spinto Band, The Family Crest and just about every other musician he knows to record brand new tracks for the album. Together, they will write and record a song and a music video for every day in June. They will stream the whole process — 24 hours a day, seven days a week — for the entire month at his website. Mann is enabling listeners who are watching the stream to participate in the recording process via chat room and even letting them pick the final track listing for the upcoming 10-track album Song A Day: The Album.
