Steven Spielberg is no stranger to war films, and the trailer for his upcoming film War Horse shows that the director still manages to capture the courage, horror and hope of battle.
The film, set in England during World War I, follows young Albert’s horse named Joey, who is sold to the cavalry and serves in both the British and German armies. As Joey endures through the war, Albert embarks on a journey to find his beloved horse and take him home. Shot entirely in England and scored by John Williams, the film promises to be a stunning portrayal of bravery and true friendship in times of war.
War Horse is re-adapted from the critically acclaimed stage play of the same name, which itself was based off of Michael Morpurgo’s 1982 children’s fiction novel. It stars David Thewlis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Irvine, Emily Watson and David Kross.
War Horse opens in theaters Dec. 28. Check out the trailer below.
