Wet Hot American Summer Cast Wants Prequel

Wet Hot American Summer Cast Wants Prequel

Wet Hot American Summer doesn’t just have a pedestrian cult following.

The stars of the film are still pretty attached to it as well.
Earlier this week, director David Wain mentioned his desire for a prequel of the summer camp parody, and as it turns out, much of the original all-star cast is enthusiastic about the idea as well.

Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Christopher Meloni, Janeane Garofalo and David Hyde Pierce all told Entertainment Weekly, that they would be glad to participate in a second film.

“It’s been discussed over the last decade in various forms and incarnations,” Rudd said.“I think we would all be up for doing it.”

The original film’s budget was under $2 million, but a decade later, many of the film’s original stars have much higher pay rates.

Despite the success much of the cast has seen since the movie’s inception, a chunk of the team told EW that they’d do the film for little to nothing.

Christopher Meloni was especially eager, saying, “Oh, fuck yeah, in a heartbeat.”
