The Twilight Zone's Rod Serling Biopic Announced

A biopic about Rod Serling, creator of classic series The Twilight Zone, has been announced, according to Digital Spy.

The Bureau of Moving Pictures recently acquired the rights to produce a film about the late Serling. Andrew Meieran of the Bureau will produce the film, along with Serling’s wife, Carol. Stanley Weiser, co-writer of Wall Street, is set to write the screenplay.

Serling, who served the U.S. army during WWII as a paratrooper, was a talented screenwriter, novelist and television producer. He moved from working in radio to television, eventually creating and hosting The Twilight Zone on CBS, which aired from 1959 to 1964. Serling sold his rights to the series to CBS after its cancellation.

“Rod Serling was one of the true visionaries in television history,” said Meieran. “He single-handedly broke the mold and established television as a powerful artistic medium capable of changing the world when used wisely.”

Serling died in 1975, at 50, from complications from years of chain-smoking.
