Angry Birds to be Made Into Feature Film
Is slingshotting a raging bird at devious pigs on your iPhone just not doing it for you anymore? Do you need more out of your Angry Birds experience?
Well, wish granted. Smash hit game Angry Birds will soon be made into a feature film. According to The Guardian, Rovio, the company behind the hit game, has hired former Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel as a special adviser and executive producer on the project. Maisel is also responsible for hits like Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.
Maisel told Variety that they are taking advantage of the rapidly growing popularity of the game to expand the franchise.
“People are interacting with these characters six inches from them each time they play, and that creates an emotional connection,” Maisel said to the magazine. “This is not an American thing. It’s not even a Finnish thing. It’s a global thing that’s something I’ve never seen before. It will be exciting to expand (this intellectual property) within Hollywood.”
No word on an official release date or even a central plot for the film. Let’s just hope it’s not 90 minutes of cartoon birds being thrown across the screen.
