A new version of the classic story Bonnie and Clyde is set to be made, with Limitless director Neil Burger helming the project.
It will be a less romanticized version than then 1967 film, and will be written by Up in the Air’s Sheldon Turner and produced by Sean and Bryan Furst and Marissa McMahon.
The film will be based off of Jeff Guinn’s book Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde, which was published last year by Simon & Schuster. It tells of how the outlaws were only 22 when they were shot down, and how the first person Clyde Barrow killed was a cellmate who had sexually abused him. The book also hints that Bonnie Parker was a prostitute before teaming up with Barrow.
Bonnie and Clyde, starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, was released in 1967 and won two Oscars.
Hillary Duff and Kevin Zegers are set to star in Tonya S. Holly’s The Story of Bonnie and Clyde, which is due out next year.
