Harry Potter enthusiasts clad in their best Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley costumes crowded theaters early this morning, eager to see the final installment of the franchise. The smash hit film series has only increased in popularity as it goes on, and the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is the biggest yet.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, movie theaters across North America reported that they have already amassed over $25 million from the midnight run of the film. And that’s with only half of the theaters who showed the film reporting.
The Potter flick has already shattered records overseas, as it grossed over $43.6 million on its first day running in 26 countries. At this rate, the film has an incredibly good chance of becoming the most popular opening of all time.
