Joaquin Phoenix Attached to New Spike Jonze Project

Back in March, Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures acquired an untitled project that was to be helmed by writer Charlie Kaufman and director Spike Jonze, the same team behind Being John Malkovich and Adaptation.

The film is reportedly “a satire about how world leaders gather to figure out all the seismic events that will take place in the worlds, from oil prices to wars that will be waged,” according to Deadline.

Now, Twitch reports that Joaquin Phoenix has signed on to the project. Warner Bros. have also been attached to the film, and Vincent Landay is slated to produce. The satire is expected to begin production in March 2012.

Joaquin Phoenix is also set to appear with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams in the upcoming Paul Thomas Anderson film The Master, which is scheduled for a 2013 release.
