Joss Whedon Wants A Buffy the Vampire Slayer Musical
Sure, Joss Whedon has already given Buffy a voice with the musical episode “Once More With Feeling,” which appeared in the sixth season of the hit television show.
But at Comic-Con this past weekend, the writer-director revealed that he wants to adapt Buffy the Vampire Slayer into a Broadway production
“I can’t say that I will, or that by the time I try to, anyone would want me to, but yeah, I think [Buffy] belongs there,” Whedon said.
Buffy, which aired from 1997 to 2003, starred Sarah Michelle Gellar (who also appeared at Comic-Con) as a young woman who was chosen to fight vampires, demons and the forces of darkness.
The writer-director has previously shown his musical chops with Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (one of Paste’s favorite web series).
Whedon is currently working on the superhero film The Avengers, which is due out next year.
Gellar is set to star in the new CW series Ringer, which premieres this year.
